Adele Sew-Along Day 1

Welcome to this Sew-Along!  This is my first ever Sew-Along so I'm crazy excited.

The Adele was one of my first pattern ideas.  She's been around from the beginning and is still one of my favorites.

I love the concept of a Sew-Along.  I couldn't possibly fit every idea I'd like to in a PDF file, they're stuffed full as it is! This gives me a chance to show you some variations on the pattern, upcycle a little and share (and receive) tips and tricks that can be used with other patterns as well.

Here's what we'll do.  I'll sew the pattern while you all sew along.  We'll go step by step, following the pattern instructions.  I'll be sharing lots of extras that aren't in the pattern all along the way.  Try not to get ahead - you might miss some new something you'd regret. :O)

You get a chance to ask questions, give feedback, share your ideas and pictures (on RJ Closet's facebook page) and inspire everyone with your projects!

And, there will be PRIZES!  It'll be fun!

Starting Monday, and every day after that, I'll pick a participant at random from the comments and posts on facebook who will win 3 patterns of their choice.  I also have a grand prize planned for the last day, too.

So, girls, the more you play, the better chance you have to win...

Let's get started...

Here we are on DAY 1.  Everyone should have your pattern by now. It's still on sale for 15% off for the Sew-Along if you don't.  You can find it HERE.

  1. Print your pattern and tape that baby together.
  2. Make some major decisions.  Is it going to be new fabric? Vintage? Upcycled?  Will you be making the basic Adele? Adding the apron? Or, my personal new fave, the Maxie?
  3. Gather your fabrics but don't cut yet!

Here is the chart you'll need if you're making the Maxi or adding an apron...

Tomorrow I'll share some cutting tips and talk "tool".  I'll talk about upcycling clothing (and show you some samples) so if you're planning on fabric shopping this weekend and want to try it, you'll know what to look for.

Questions or comments?  Ask me on FB...

Rev your machines - we start sewing on Monday!

  6. I am going to love this. I think the Adele was one of the first patterns I ever bought in PDF and it was also the first that I tried out. It turned out lovely. I am doing another one today and will be gathering my supplies for the sew-along on Monday as well. I am out of work for a couple of weeks so this is really going to make my day! Thanks so much.
